Adele’s Illness Worsens, US Tour Cancelled

A doctor orders absolute voice rest for the sickly star…

Adele has been forced to cancel the remaining nine dates on her US tour after her laryngitis worsened.
As previously reported on MTV, the Someone Like You chart-topper postponed five shows but was expected to recommence the tour in San Francisco tonight, 4 June.

But a doctor has order the star to rest her voice completely, forcing her to scrap upcoming dates in California, Texas, Georgia and Tennessee, all of which were sold out.
An announcement on the Rolling In The Deep singer’s website read: "While resting in Los Angeles, Adele met with an Otolaryngology specialist who determined it was imperative that she take the next few weeks to recover with absolute voice rest."
She added: "I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a week's rest I'd be better to sing again straight away. However, there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor's advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry. See you soon."
In an earlier post on the website, Adele wrote that she was devastated at having to let down fans: “I hate to cancel especially at such short notice. I am truly devastated… please forgive me!”
It’s not clear yet whether the cancelled dates will be rescheduled.
